Welcome to People of His Word
“The Word of God well understood and religiously obeyed is the shortest route to spiritual perfection. And we must not select a few favorite passages to the exclusion of others. Nothing less than a whole Bible can make a whole Christian.”
— A.W. Tozer.
Hi, and welcome to our new website! I am going to have to be brutally honest and tell you that I am totally new to writing for any kind of audience. The motivation behind starting this ministry is simply that I love God’s Word and I love telling people about it. I am fully convinced that God’s Word (the Bible) has the power to change people’s hearts, minds, and thoughts. It has the power to convict us of sin, show us how to live, help us make a decision, and place love where it wasn’t before.
A couple years ago, God convicted me about my lack of love for His Word. In John 1:1, it says “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” The Scripture makes it clear that God and His Word are inseparable. God is eternal, and so is His Word. God is the changer of hearts, and so is His Word. If I lack in my love for God’s Word, I lack in my love for God. That’s a scary thought! Yet, how many of us bring our Bible to church on Sunday (if we even bring it), only to bring it home and leave it on a table or shelf until the next church meeting? Have you ever been guilty of having to search for where you “left” your Bible because you’ve misplaced it from lack of use? I have been in that boat.
God’s Word is incredible! It was literally thousands of years in the making! I come from the school that believes that God’s Word is literally HIS Word. I believe that this word is inspired, meaning “God breathed.” If God has placed such emphasis on His Word, we should too. Not only should we be reading it, we should be craving it.
I’m not going to come out with this new found blog and say that I’ve mastered the love of God’s Word. I haven’t. I’m only a guy who is learning to love it more and more. I am as guilty as anyone of missing my personal quiet time with God on the busy days. I’m as guilty as anyone of letting my Bible collect dust in a corner in my house. However, God has given me a burden. I want to become a man of His Word. I want to fall in love with His Word, and I want to obey His Word. Will you join me on this journey? Let us grow together in God’s truth. The best part is… the better we know God’s Word, the better we know God!
This is the first article on this website. I pray that God will use this to His honor and glory! I’m just getting this started, so stay tuned for more.

Love is a complex thing..well, something that us humans make it. Contrary to popular notions love is not a feeling or an emotion, it’s an act of the will. When we love someone means that we also love the things about someone. This is most true of our love for God. We love Him means we love everything about Him. To love God is to love His word. Psalm 119:97 says Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day.
Welcome to the blogging community Matt! I pray that God uses your blog post to be a light…

I agree Kim! You made an important note: love isn’t just an emotion. Love is an action. We won’t always feel the emotion behind the love, but we must always do the action. If we love God, we must commit ourselves to Him and His Word daily, no matter what the emotions happen to feel like that day. Thank you Kim! God bless you sister.
